Where Can I Practice?

I need to hone my skills - where can I do it here at NGC?

We have a great golf course at Nambour - but we do suffer from the lack of good practice areas. We used to practise hitting back down number 9 fairway, but with so many brutes here, it became dangerous for players on #9!  So that area was closed to practice. So where can we now practice?

  • Use the nets at the entrance way - probably the only place where you can practise your full swing with long irons or a driver.
    • There is a practice green behind the proshop - here you can practise from chips to bunker shots to full shots with you short irons (say from Sand Iron to 9 iron.) Good to practise hitting from unlevel lies too, because there is not much level land in this area.

    • The putting green adjacent to the first tee - obviously for putting, and those near-green approach chips.
    • There is another area beside the 17th tee, where you can hit mid irons across to the turf nursery to the left of the 17th green. Not being able to hit balls from this area when players are on the 17th hole is a drawback, but you can soon practice17work out the best time to practise here.
    • GREAT LOB

On a recent Saturday, while playing the 10th a lady member was waiting on or beside the 10th green waiting for a male member to chip onto the green.

What happened next to peak the interest of Circus promoters?

    • GOOD WORDS, BAD SHOTS

Eskimos , allegedly, have 40 different words for snow. But GOLF has more than that number of colourful words for BAD SHOTS. But we have almost nothing for GOOD SHOTS. Inanely, Good Shot/ Great Shot is about the best we can do.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact we hit many more bad shots than good ones??

Read on for a list of words/expressions we use for poor shots - how many have you used? Do you have any others? (Profane words have not been included - probably not enough room on the web page.
