Where Can I Practice?

I need to hone my skills - where can I do it here at NGC?

We have a great golf course at Nambour - but we do suffer from the lack of good practice areas. We used to practise hitting back down number 9 fairway, but with so many brutes here, it became dangerous for players on #9!  So that area was closed to practice. So where can we now practice?

  • Use the nets at the entrance way - probably the only place where you can practise your full swing with long irons or a driver.
    • There is a practice green behind the proshop - here you can practise from chips to bunker shots to full shots with you short irons (say from Sand Iron to 9 iron.) Good to practise hitting from unlevel lies too, because there is not much level land in this area.

    • The putting green adjacent to the first tee - obviously for putting, and those near-green approach chips.
    • There is another area beside the 17th tee, where you can hit mid irons across to the turf nursery to the left of the 17th green. Not being able to hit balls from this area when players are on the 17th hole is a drawback, but you can soon practice17work out the best time to practise here.
    • WHICH HOLE IS THIS?

I have played from around here quite a few times - do you recognise this spot?

    • PRESIDENT PETER PROBLEM SOLVES

President Peter has returned from Canada (quality time with son Morgan), and surprised by field sizes.

"I must say it’s great to be home, but where is everybody? Social players continue to rise however, for whatever reason, the number of members playing golf both socially and in competitions is well down."

So Peter, Management Committee and Steve have done some tweaking to improve golfing numbers here.
