Covid has messed up our golfing calendar. When will we play our championships this year? Captain Cal presents some planned dates.

In the last couple of weeks I’ve come to realize that I’ve been overly optimistic that the Covid-19 restrictions we’ve had placed on how we play golf may be lifted in time to play our Championships under normal conditions. We may still have these restrictions in 2021 so I have decided that we should go ahead with what we can still fit in this year and do our best to ensure fair results.

The good news:-

The Men’s Club Championships and the Weekend Ladies Championships will go ahead starting Saturday 17 October with the final round 7 November.

The final 3 rounds of the Men’s Wednesday Championships will be played on the same day as the Red Shirt Days at the end of September, October and November. The first round was 11 March.

The bad news:-

It is unlikely that there will be time for either of the Foursomes Championships as events are scheduled for late November. A final decision will be made at a later date.

There won’t be time to play any of the men’s match play championships.

Captain Greg has advised that the Vets Championships will not go ahead this year. At this stage, the Ladies Committee have decided the Ladies Club Championships will not go ahead either.

The Town of Nambour Open will not go ahead this year for various reasons.

Further detail regarding the championships will be emailed closer to the starting dates.

Of course, this is only a plan. Let’s hope the coronavirus doesn’t spoil it.
