Yahoo - we have had some consistent clear weather. What did that mean for our greens staff?

Finally some good news for the club!!

This month’s weather has been much preferred for our course with fairways and rough starting to really dry up. With this being said, last week the course staff completed all rough areas for the first time in two months, and with tees and green surrounds all maintained to desired heights.

This week we have applied fertiliser to all fairways and tee surrounds, and dam walls have been snipped.

Last month’s weather has affected the 328 greens more than I have seen. These greens also suffer from shade. For comparison the blue couch greens are holding up very well and I apply the same programme to both surfaces. Whilst we did not over sow this year, the terrible weather has seen this grass struggle.

With applying products that help with stress and root growth and also resting the greens from mowing on non-comp days, at this stage I am not happy with the surface of the 328 greens but I have high hope for more sunny days and with my spray programme, this should see us through to renovations.

This month Kev our excavator operator will be attending to our broken pipes that are currently roped off on 4th and 5th. This will hopefully be repaired this month once the areas have completely dried out.
