25th October , 2018

We have seen many changes take place on our course this year. As usual our club leaders have been very progressive which is commendable. Apart from course improvements, the old ‘pro shop’ has been further enclosed and more carts have been purchased to entice even more players onto our course.

Thank you to all the ladies who supported our away games this year. It’s becoming even harder these days with our low numbers so it’s even more appreciated than ever when ladies make the effort and it’s also well noted by the other clubs that Nambour is always represented.

All the ladies contribute in some way or another whenever we host events but personal thanks must be expressed to June for her baking throughout the year for the Zone Meetings as well as our hosted events. Once again Ros Gaylard capably ran all the raffles and Sue Rogers our Snake Club, thanks to the ladies that provided back up when these ladies were absent.
On 7th May we held our annual Cancer Charity Day and due to the generosity of our members, sponsors and volunteers we raised $1216.10 for QIMR Berghoffer in Brisbane. Thank you all for your support for this most worthwhile cause.

Greenkeeper Andy Boswell and his team have had an uphill battle this year to keep our course up to scratch. We had so much rain at the beginning of our ladies competitions that 10 Thursdays were cancelled. Also with all the recent rains it has been a great strain by all to get the course ready for the annual Town of Nambour Open. It has been a great effort with President Peter Black, Peter Hughes, Ron Newton and many others volunteering help. Well done. The weather almost held but the event was still a great success.

The Ladies Committee have also done a great job in 2018 and where would we be without them organising our weekly events, away games and hosted events. A big job made easier by everyone pulling together. Judy Spanner leaves us as Captain this year but will remain on match as Vice Captain.
My gardening partners Del and Joan have had a frustrating time this year as it seems it was always too hot or too wet most of the time. However we did manage to keep most gardens at least neat.

We have been blessed this year with our new catering team Michael and Debbie. Another ‘pat on the back’ Steve for finding this talented pair. Congratulations Steve and Nigel for another successful year running our club, you are so appreciated but you probably don’t realise it and/or don’t get told often enough. Also your support group Kynan, Leonie, Abby and Jake are great assets to our club. We saw Leonie retire a few weeks ago and has been replaced by Natalie. We welcome her to our friendly club and wish her well.

A special mention for Liddy Drane who works so diligently as our Club Secretary. Despite back and knee surgery this year she has still been out to the club helping out whenever she can. Just another indication of the support and dedication of our members.
Congratulations to all the ladies who won events this year both at home and away especially our weekday Pennant Team who won their division for the North Coast Zone. A huge effort for our small number.

Many thanks to the outgoing committee of 2018.
