Who is this guy? What does he have to offer our members at NGC? 

We welcome our new chef, Michael Sajko, and his wife Debbie to Nambour Golf Club. Michael is looking forward to renewing his experiences as the chef for a sports club.

Michael is a calm, pleasant, helpful and hardworking individual who has a passion for great food and who enjoys cooking mouth-watering dishes. Michael gets a real buzz out of working in a busy kitchen, and great pleasure out of seeing happy faces enjoying a good meal that he has cooked. As a natural leader he is not only able to give orders and delegate tasks, but is also able to reliably carry out orders as well. As an experienced Chef he has a proven track record of making great food that will entice diners and leave them wanting more. He loves the freedom of expression that cooking gives him and is willing to work hard and has built a career in the culinary world. “

He has a fine record of over 16 years in a wide range of services in club and fine dining establishments. He started his experience as an apprentice chef all those years ago with the Cowra Services Club, and spent a number of years as the head chef at Brothers Sports Club.

Fine dining service experience also includes a time at Petrie Mansions in Brisbane.

Michael’s mission, Cooking with a Passion, will see him provide our members upmarket food experiences at a reasonable cost. However, he intends to assess our needs, and to build on what we have had in the past. Going the extra mile for members is foremost in his plans (could include the provision of home cooked meals, and re-introduction of sausages in a bun at the half-way bar!) But providing a variety of flavours to excite and extend our palate will also feature. So, much to look forward to.

Debbie, Michael’s other half, is a psychologist in training (surely an opening here for her too – you only need to listen to the mental anguish of members in the bar after each round!) You will also see Debbie at the club on occasions working as part of the catering team.

Everything looks good for the club, in welcoming such an experienced and passionate foodie in Michael.

But, oh dear – he let slip he supports the Roosters Rugby League team!
