Handicapping Policies

NAMBOUR GOLF CLUB - HANDICAPPING POLICIES

The following policies are based on Golf Australia’s “Australian Men’s and Women’s Handicap System.”

1. If a player does not hand in his card, he is disqualified from the competition. For handicapping purposes, the score recorded by GolfLink for that player will be equal to the worst score of the last 19 scores in his GolfLink record.

2. In a stroke round, a player who picks up on a hole(s) is disqualified from the competition. A score is calculated by the Committee for handicapping purposes by allocating 2 over net par (= 0 stableford points) for that hole(s).

3. A player who completes 9 to 17 holes of a stroke round for a reason not approved by the Committee is disqualified from the competition.  For handicapping purposes, a score is calculated by the Committee by allocating net par (= 2 stableford points) for the remaining hole(s) not played.

4. In a stableford round of 9 or more holes, a player who does not play a hole(s) is not disqualified and the score for the holes played is counted as the competition score.  A score for handicapping purposes is calculated by the Committee by allocating net par (= 2 stableford points) for any hole(s) not played.

5. A player who does not complete a round for a reason approved by the Committee (e.g. injured, sick) will not be handicapped.  GolfLink will not record a score for that round.

6. A player who completes less than 9 holes for a reason not approved by the Committee is disqualified from the competition.  For handicapping purposes, the score recorded by GolfLink for that player will be equal to the worst score of the last 19 scores in his GolfLink record.

7. A player who hands in a card after the competition has closed will remain disqualified from the competition.  He will have his score for that competition recorded on GolfLink provided the card is handed in within a period of time acceptable to the Committee.  The original score (as per policy 1) which was equal to the worst score of the last 19 scores in his GolfLink record will be cancelled.

8. If a player does not hand in a card and does this frequently, he is disqualified from the competition.  A penalty score will be recorded for handicapping purposes – equal to the best score of his last 19 scores recorded on GolfLink.
(The Handicap Committee will only take this action after a number of consultations with the player have failed to change behaviour.)

• These policies will be kept under review and modified as required.
• Any issue arising in applying these policies that cannot be resolved informally with the Member concerned will be referred to the Handicap Committee.

    PRESIDENT'S UPDATE

    Dear Members,

I hope you are all enjoying the sensational weather but the time has come where we need some rain. How good will the course be with 2 or 3 inches of rain?

Well, "it's all happening" at Nambour Golf Club. We apologise for any inconvenience but I'm sure you would agree that it is all worth it.

Here is an update on works recently completed and what else is happening around the place.

    JUNIOR EFFERVESCENCE

I happened to catch Darrell's Junior Golfer squads as they topped off their regular Sunday clinic with a few holes of golf. It is so reassuring to see such dedication from Darrell, but this may be easy to reconcile when you see the joie de vivre, the energy and the great sense of fun displayed by his young charges. I snapped a photo late on Sunday arvo of one of his groups as they rolled on down #1! Have a look!
